Congratulations to Bob Kuhl (Wine Country CC) – the Tim Irish Spirit of Curling Award recipient for the 2024-2025 season!

Bob Kuhl has been a shining example of the Spirit of Curling. Bob’s presence consistently elevates the curling experience for everyone around him. Time and time again, he has opened his league and bonspiel teams to newer curlers, offering encouragement and guidance both on and off the ice. He’s the first to extend an invitation to non-curlers for Learn-To-Curl events and is always the one to make broomstacking a memorable, welcoming tradition. Bob regularly assists with ice prep before our [Wine Country Curling Club’s] leagues and is a constant at our bonspiels! Many of the club’s traditions were started by Bob and he is one of the first to remind us to keep those traditions alive. Just like Tim, Bob is dedicated and hardworking and who has given tirelessly to the curling community while helping to grow the sport. His dedication and exuberance for curling is a perfect reason why he should receive this award!

The Tim Irish Award Selection Committee wishes to thank everyone who submitted nominations for their fellow curlers. It is wonderful to see the Spirit of Curling alive and well within the region!

A note about the award:

The Tim Irish Award is given annually in June. Starting in 2024, the Tim Irish Award is awarded as a stand-alone recognition to the curler that has best exemplified the Spirit of Curling during the past season. In the past, it was awarded along with the International Tankard recognition in January.

Unlike the International Tankard nominations where clubs are invited to nominate volunteers who help their clubs, any individual who is a member of a MoPac club can nominate another individual who is a member of any MoPac club for the Tim Irish Award. Those who demonstrate the Spirit of Curling are eligible for nomination. The selected honorees shall receive an engraved award in June along with regional recognition for their efforts.
