In answer to the recent vote on USA Curling’s new membership model, MoPac will be submitting a slew of bylaws amendments to the Club Representative Assembly for a vote, now that the USA Curling Members’ Assembly voted in favor of the model on 10/13/2023. While the exact language of these amendments are not yet finalized, below you’ll find a summary of the changes proposed to allow MoPac’s bylaws to come into alignment with USA Curling’s new membership model.
- Article II.9 Election of National Director
- This point will be revised to reflect the new model of selecting a director candidate in partnership with Alaska Curling Association and Pacific Northwest Curling Association.
- Article IV.7.b Definition of Active Member Clubs
- Point iv. Membership in the USCA is not a requirement for membership in MoPac, though it is strongly encouraged. Clubs sending teams to events leading to national events are required to be current members of the USCA.
- Article IV.7.c Temporarily Displaced Clubs
- Clubs that previously held active membership with MoPac, but are temporarily displaced may retain their membership in the organization so long as they:
- -Hold regular meetings
- -Retain a portion of their membership
- -Are continuously searching for new ice
- Clubs may retain this status for one year beyond August 1 of the year they lost their ice/facility. Additional time may be granted at the MoPac Board’s discretion.
- Temporarily Displaced Clubs will be exempt from paying MoPac dues.
- Clubs that previously held active membership with MoPac, but are temporarily displaced may retain their membership in the organization so long as they:
- Article IV.9 Submission of Club Membership Rosters
- This section will be updated pending the finalized language of USA Curling’s new membership model.
- Submission deadline will now be 1 December annually.
- Clubs opting to remain in MoPac but leave USCA will still be required to submit membership rosters along with dues payments by this deadline.
- Article V.2 Payment of Dues
- MoPac will continue charging members a flat rate of $5 per year for membership. MoPac will NOT be charging clubs membership fees on top of individual dues!
- Clubs that opt into both USCA and MoPac membership will retain the option of paying member dues individually via Sport:80, or collecting and remitting dues in bulk prior to the deadline annually.
- Clubs that opt into MoPac membership but out of USCA membership may only collect and remit dues via the bulk payment method prior to the deadline.
- The Membership Year will now be defined as 1 December-30 November.
