The MoPac Youth Curling Committee Chair is a volunteer position filled by selection by the MoPac Executive Committee and confirmed by vote of the Board of Directors (“BOD”).

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee development of youth curling in the region which includes, but is not limited to:
    1. Collaborating with the BOD on defining policies and/or best practices for MoPac-sponsored youth programming
    2. Active outreach to member clubs, on at least a minimum schedule prescribed by the BOD, to understand the status of youth curling programs in the region 
    3. Facilitate team formation to promote participation in competitions and the most competitive teams possible
  2. Oversee planning and coordination, working with the MoPac Venue Search and Competitions Committees when appropriate, of all MoPac-sponsored youth curling events including, but not limited to:
    1. MoPac U18 playdown
    2. Youth competitions such as event qualifier bonspiels, working with USCA when appropriate to host national events
    3. Youth social bonspiels
    4. Youth development camps/clinics
  3. Attend all MoPac-sponsored youth curling competitions, and act as event chair, in addition to other roles such as chief umpire, if able. Or designate a qualified committee member to act on their behalf. (Financial assistance may be available)
  4. Regularly report to the BOD on the current status of committee activities
    1. At a minimum, reports should be provided at every quarterly meeting. Attendance at the quarterly meetings is strongly encouraged, but not required.
  5. Disseminate relevant youth development opportunities to member clubs and junior coaches within the region
  6. Act as liaison to USA Curling on youth curling-related topics

The MoPac Youth Curling Committee Chair:

  1. Is not subject to a term limit but shall be reconfirmed by the BOD every 2 years at the annual meeting
  2. Must be a member in good standing of a MoPac member club
  3. Must maintain uninterrupted SafeSport certification during their tenure
    1. CPR/First Aid certification is strongly recommended, but not required
  4. Must adhere to regional and national Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAPP)
  5. Shall consent to a background check, at MoPac’s expense
  6. Shall obtain expressed written consent from the BOD each season to coach, either actively or by proxy, any youth team or individual curlers intending to participate in a MoPac-sponsored youth competition
