There has been a lot of curling activity happening in the past few months, which includes a number of MoPac teams/members qualifying for USA Curling National Championship events outside of those which stem from regional playdown events.
In January, Team Coleman/Robertson (SFBACC – Gabrielle Coleman, Connor Robertson) competed in the US Mixed Doubles National Championship after qualifying through the Madtown Double Down event.
In February, Team Weldon (SFBACC – Kate Garfinkel, Abby Lin, Sarah Walsh, and former MoPac President BriAnna Weldon) competed in the USA Curling Women’s National Championship at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, NC. Team Weldon earned their spot in this year’s championship through their top 2 finish at the Last Chance Qualifier in December.
And just this month, juniors from SFBACC have qualified for and competed at the U21 Mixed Doubles (Karina Treynor, Tucker Hellman) at Cape Code Curling and the upcoming U21 Junior Women’s National Championship (Team Treynor) in Bismarck, ND later this month.
Futhermore, numerous MoPac 5&U teams have qualified for the 5&U National Championship including teams from Coyotes, Oval, Silicon Valley, and San Francisco that will take place at the end of April.
It is so exciting to see the growing number of competitive teams coming from our region and seeing them advance to a national championship. Keep up with all the action at the national events at their respective event hubs which can be found here: https://www.usacurling.org/championships.
Let’s go MoPac!
