The MoPac Competitions Committee Chair is a volunteer position filled by selection by the MoPac Executive Committee and confirmed by vote of the Board of Directors (“BOD”).
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning and coordination, working with the event committees and MoPac Venue Search Committee when appropriate, of all MoPac-sponsored playdown events including, but not limited to:
- Men’s and Women’s Arena Playdowns
- Men’s and Women’s Club Playdowns
- Mixed Fours Playdowns
- Boy’s and Girl’s U18 Playdowns
- Act as liaison to USA Curling on playdown-related topics including, but not limited to:
- Confirmation of national championship dates
- Confirmation of available berths for the MoPac region
- MoPac playdown registration on Sport80
- Reporting results of MoPac playdowns
- Disseminate relevant playdown information to member clubs within the region working with the MoPac website and social media teams, as necessary, to publish information on MoPac’s platforms
- Regularly report to the BOD on the current status of committee activities
- At a minimum, reports should be provided at every quarterly meeting. Attendance at the quarterly meetings is strongly encouraged, but not required.
- Serve on the Youth Selections Committee (see MoPac U18 policy for committee responsibilities)
The MoPac Competitions Committee Chair:
- Is not subject to a term limit but shall be reconfirmed by the BOD every 2 years at the annual meeting
- Must be a member in good standing of a MoPac member club
- Must maintain uninterrupted SafeSport certification during their tenure
- Must adhere to regional and national Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAPP)
- Shall consent to a background check if requested, at MoPac’s expense
- Shall be knowledgeable of all current USA Curling Rules of Competitions and Qualifying Procedures Documents
