Two years ago, Rob Shelton (Boise CC) was elected to the position of the MoPac Director to the USCA Board. This past weekend, the position transitioned to Darryl Horsman (Coyotes CC). Darryl takes over the role – now as a combined role of USCA Director for the Western Region (Alaska State Curling Association, Pacific Northwest Curling Association and the Mountain Pacific Curling Association). As first-time Director of combined regions, Darryl has the job of representing a large portion of the country. As a 2015 USCA Volunteer of the Year, founding member and past president of Coyotes CC and USCA instructor, Darryl has shown a devotion to the sport that will be needed for the role ahead but for someone who has been known as “Mr. Curling” Darryl’s new role should be no problem. The MoPac Board is excited about Darryl’s appointment and looks forward to seeing his support of the growth of curling throughout the Western Region.
As we welcome Darryl, we also want to give a big ‘thank you’ to Rob Shelton for his devotion to the MoPac USCA Director position (2019-2021). Now that USCA has moved to combine the regions, Rob goes into history as the last MoPac Director to the USCA Board. During his tenure he has helped USCA in assessing their communication strategies and available technology. During the past year he has been a strong voice on the importance of Covid safety. We wish him well as he moves into the role of Boise Curling Club’s MoPac representative in the MoPac Assembly.
