The new MoPac President, Jennifer Asis (SVCC), was sworn into her position at MoPac’s Monday evening Annual General Meeting yesterday. She is a skilled leader and avid curler. Please join the MoPac Board in congratulating Jennifer!
For those who may not be familiar with Jennifer, she enjoyed watching her first game during the 2010 Winter Olympics. She knew it was a sport she wanted to try, but didn’t have the opportunity to do so until years later in 2013. In January 2014, a few months after her learn-to-curl, she joined her first league with the Lone Star Curling Club in Austin, TX, and has been curling ever since.
In 2018, Jennifer moved to California and joined Silicon Valley Curling Club. She served on the Board of Directors as Secretary from 2020-2023. Additionally, Jennifer has taken on roles as the membership coordinator, corporate events coordinator, bonspiel chair, and works on several committees such as communications, web admin, and diversity and inclusion, helping to establish processes and policies for club operations. Additionally, Jennifer has helped to improve operations at the national level as part of the beta trial test group for the Sport80 platform now employed by USA Curling. She has also volunteered hundreds of hours teaching corporate events and learn-to-curls over the years. For her volunteer efforts in growing the sport and her service in curling, she received MoPac’s Tim Irish Volunteer Service Award and was selected to be in the International Tankard in 2020.
Jennifer enjoys the camaraderie amongst the curling community especially at bonspiels. She has also competed in the Arena Nationals Championship, winning silver in 2023. Outside of curling, Jennifer enjoys many hobbies and going on walks with her family. She has a background in engineering and credits her time in the semiconductor industry for her love of documentation.
Welcome, Jennifer!
