Congratulations to Teams Asis (Silicon Valley) and Spangler (Wine Country) on bringing home bronze form the USA Curling Arena National Championship in October! As the highest-placed finishers from the region, Teams Asis and Spangler also earned the region’s first points towards the Regions Cup.
MoPac was represented by four teams at the championship held at CurlVegas: defending champions, Teams Asis and Spangler, and playdown winners, Teams Connelly (Wine Country) and Gilbert (Oval). The MoPac contingency had a strong showing at the event with all four teams qualifying for the the playoffs. Undefeated in the round robin, Team Asis secured the top seed in their pool to advance straight to the semifinal, while Spangler, Connelly, and Gilbert qualified to the quarterfinal event Saturday night. Spangler went on to win his quarterfinal event to advance to championship Sunday. During the semifinals, it was a MoPac versus MACA affair in both divisions with Asis facing Robertson (DFW) and Spangler facing Myers (DFW). While both Asis and Spangler dropped their semifinal matches, both bounced back in their bronze medal matches to claim victory!
